Having graduated from Medicine at Queen’s University Belfast in 2011, Dr Murphy completed postgraduate core medical training and dermatology specialist registrar training in Northern Ireland. His past experiences include a dermatology consultant post at Belfast City Hospital where he was a recognised trainer for junior doctors and provided general dermatology clinics, a weekly see and treat suspect skin cancer clinic, photo-triage services for cancer referrals and regular minor surgery lists. Furthermore, Dr Murphy set up a dedicated consultant and nurse-led genital dermatology service at Belfast City Hospital and in 2022-2023, was the chair of the Northern Ireland regional skin cancer multidisciplinary weekly meeting. He is a member of both the British and Irish Associations of Dermatologists, the British Society for Cutaneous Allergy, the British Cosmetic Dermatology Group, the British Society for the Study of Vulval Disease and the British Society of Peno-Scrotal Dermatology. He sits on the British Association of Dermatologists Therapeutics and Guidelines Committee and is a tutor for Learna and the University of South Wales on their postgraduate dermatology course.
In 2024, he sought to expand his professional repertoire and our services at Cathedral Dermatology Clinic by completing training in Cosmetic Dermatology at the esteemed Harley Academy in London. In addition to seeing patients with rashes and skin lesions, Dr Murphy offers consultations for concerns including skin ageing, hyperpigmentation and melasma, acne scarring and photodamage (due to excessive sun exposure).
